The Lash Architect 4D has been binned ! For me, it is trash !
My search has gone on to find some gems that do the job. Here are my recommendations, which are all mascaras that have a traditional brush and not the rubbery new fangled brushes that manufacturers are using nowadays
Make Up Academy (MUA) have recently launched their Pro range. The mascaras are £2 and are worth it ! More "worth it" than any of the L'Oreal ones. I love the silver "Extreme Curl" one as it lifts and holds and you can build and add more from day to night.
Prestige "My Blackest Lashes" £6.50 from Boots is superb, carbon black, buildable to long volumised and non flaking lashes that can be washed off. Prestige is without doubt, my favourite. Prestige is from the USA . Their other mascaras are really worth a try too - "My Longest Lashes" (rubbery brush) "My Biggest Lashes" traditional fat brush.
George at Asda Volume Lash, £4/5 is a great everyday mascara; nice traditional large brush in bright yellow pack.
Suprisingly, Miss Sporty, one of the cheapest brands aimed at the youngest market have this diamond in their range "Pump Up Lashes" It is really carbon black, lifts and holds via a large traditional brush that really captures and combs through and coats each lash and the mascara is buildable as well to take you from day to night.
Boots 17 new one, "Falsify" is worth a try. Large, fat, traditional brush. Mascara goes on a treat; quick to apply, it lifts, holds, and lasts until you wash it off.
Bourjois Mascaras are always a favourite of mine and I cannot praise them enough.
Max Factor is always a good brand. Fusion is a good mascara that lifts and holds but not so carbon black as I would like.
Clinique are great too. I always used to wear Lancome and I am sure Lancome is still awesome, but my budget considers Lancome a luxury I cannot afford ! Chanel mascaras; ditto !
None of these are waterproof. I don't tend to use waterproof unless swimming or attending a funeral ! I had a bad habit of picking off mascara and had some bad bald times, so waterproof is a no no lest I go back to my bad habit!
Regarding Modelco Lash Fibres; hmmm... This is being marketed as a new thing but it is not ! Back in the late 70s/80s I used to wear a mascara with fibres and I can't remember if it was Yardley, but it consisted of fibres in a mascara that made your lashes like spiders and could so easily be overdone to the ridiculous and fibres used to fall off and irritate !
Mr Mascara used to sell mascara and a tube of fibres to prime your lashes before and after mascara, but due to some bad irritation issues; particularly contact lens wearers, these and all the other mascaras with fibres in, were discontinued globally. I now question the safety issues with this all new singing and dancing Danni Minogue endorsed Modelco Fibres and mascara kit.
To me, nothing has changed and I can only envisage some bad experiences as fibers are foreign bodies and bound to cause irritation and worse ! It is a constant battle for the cosmetics industry to come up with a continuing stream of products to create a hype, often celebrity endorsed, to regulary entice us to part with our cash in large amounts to bolster their alreadly humungous, profits ! I now think before I jump in - do I really need this and is there something cheaper as good or better ? Lately, I find that cheaper can actually be equal and many times better than the more expensive brands.
